Sarvodaya has always been a promoter of Community Tourism. Sarvodaya has had students, non-profit workers, volunteers, and interested individuals and groups visiting their villages and working with the community to improve the village. They contribute through physical labor and also by working with the people living in the village, to develop ideas into actionable plans. TCommunity-based tourists have always been welcome at Sarvodaya.
This World Tourism Day, the President of the Sarvodaya Movement in Sri Lanka, Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, collaborated with the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and made this short video to help promote community tourism again – Video
The University of Colombo had this to say about Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne – “His words remind us of the transformative role tourism plays in bringing communities together and nurturing sustainable prosperity. Let’s embrace tourism as a force for good and a bridge to a more peaceful world.”
This collaboration is done with plans to promote tourism in the country to enhance the chances of villages getting visitors who contribute financially, physically, and intellectually, to benefit the village.
