Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, President of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka, was the keynote speaker for The Light Millennium, Charitable Global Human Advancement Organization Associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications at their 4th Annual World Water Day International Panel held on March 24th, 2024.
Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne spoke of the past of the country in relation to water conservation and then elaborated on the work done by Sarvodaya from back in the 1960’s through the present and their future goals. He also emphasized on how the preservation of their work could only be carried out by the community leaders of the particular village Sarvodaya starts a project in and sustainability of water conservation is up to the villagers themselves.
